Skin Tightening
Concern
After severe weight loss, excess skin may be present on the body. For areas like thigh and arms, this often causes irritation of the skin and may be perceived as unsightly.
Treatment
Excess skin and fat can be removed and the skin tightened in combination with liposuction to restore tight skin tone. The scar is positioned strategically and is therefore less apparent.
Hospital Admission: 1 day
Recuperation Time: 3-4 weeks
Post Surgery
Drains are placed in the wounds to collect fluid. The patient must wear compression pants for at least three weeks.
Labia Majora Plumping
Concern
The shape of the outer labia (labia majora) can vary individually in size and shape. Some women might feel that their outer labia are not aesthetically pleasing. Oftentimes the outer labia are asymmetrical. With female circumcision still practiced in some parts of the world, correcting unsightly scars that can even cause pain during sexual intercourse is compelling motivation for surgery.
Treatment
The outer labia can be corrected by reducing its size or even performing lipo-filling to give it a fuller appearance.
Hospital Admission: Outpatient
Recuperation Time: 1-2 weeks
Post Surgery
One week of soaking in Epsom salt is advised.
Labia Minora Reduction
Concern
In some women their inner labia (labia minora) is very pronounced creating discomfort or the perception of unattractiveness. Some women would like to have their inner labia reduced, so that they just slightly protrude over the outer labia.
Treatment
This small procedure can be performed under local anesthesia with the wounds closed with dissolvable sutures.
Hospital Admission: Outpatient
Recuperation Time: 1-2 weeks
Post Surgery
One week of soaking in Epsom Salt is advised.
Clitoral Dehooding
Concern
The clitoris is an integral part of a woman’s enjoyment of sexual stimulation. Some women may not be experiencing the full range of pleasure that the clitoris provides.
Treatment
The clitoris is normally covered by skin that can be reduced to expose the clitoris and increase sexual stimulation. This procedure can be performed under local anesthesia.
Hospital Admission: Outpatient
Recuperation Time: 1-2 weeks
Post Surgery
One week of soaking in Epsom salt is advised.
Lipofilling
Concern
Many people are not satisfied with the silhouette of their body and would like to augment some areas while reducing others. For these people, a modern plastic surgery technique is lipofilling. With lipofilling, body areas that need more volume are augmented by injecting the patient’s own body fat that has been harvested from areas with excess fat. Typical sites for harvesting fat cells are the upper inner thigh or the lower abdomen.
Treatment
Under general anesthesia, the patient’s fat cells are injected into the affected areas, the body will reabsorb part of the transplanted cells achieving a satisfying outcome after healing. Lipo-fillings may have to be repeated two or three times to achieve the desired effect.
Hospital Admission: 1 day
Recuperation Time: 2-3 weeks
Post Surgery
Compression garments must be worn for 3 – 6 weeks. During the first two days after surgery, some watery fluid may bleed out of the small incision. Lymphatic drainage massage is recommended.
Liposuction
Concern
Many people have the desire to improve the shape and silhouette of their body. Liposuction makes this desire a real possibility. Areas of concern tend to be the upper thighs, buttocks, hips and abdomen depending on your gender.
The removal of fat by means of suction is not a substitute for proper diet and exercise. As a matter of fact, it is not suggested for people who are severely overweight because of the risks involved. It is however an excellent technique to correct unevenly distributed fat tissue for a long-lasting result.
Treatment
Using a local anesthesia and a solution, fat will be sucked out of the region that has been marked before the surgery.
Hospital Admission: Outpatient procedure
Recuperation Time: 3 weeks
Post Surgery
Compression garments must be worn for 3 – 6 weeks. During the first two days after surgery, some watery fluid may bleed out of the small incision. Lymphatic drainage massage is recommended.
